Google Rolls Out New Privacy Feature
Google has introduced a new feature that allows people to request the removal of their personal information from search results. The privacy tool allows users to request the removal of personal information like confidential login credentials, bank account numbers, and personal contact information like email addresses, phone numbers, and so on.
They made this announcement at the Google “Search on” occasion along with unveiling an array of announcements relating to search services and products.
The company said the feature will be available soon with no specific date. And it will be accessible to customers within the U.S. Google added that the feature would arrive on the Google App within the coming months for everyone.
All you need to do to clear any personal details of yours on google search is to tap on a three-dot icon and “About this result” would appear on your screen then you click, after that, you’ll be directed to the removal request form where you’ll be asked to provide more details about you with a reason for the request. After that, you’ll receive an e-mail to confirm the request.
This update comes as a result of the new threat against user confidentiality named “doxing” where someone reveals your private data to the general public without permission. And this can give birth to so many issues of cyber-bullying and also expose one to online harassment.
