According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, a new 24-inch iMac from Apple could be released as soon as the second part of the year. Developing two new iMac models has hit a “late stage,” Gurman writes in his most recent Power On newsletter, and Apple has recently begun manufacturing tests. Gurman believes it will be at least three more months before mass manufacturing of the 2023 iMac begins, but the good news is that the updated models will include several upgrades.

Notably, the 2023 iMac is said to feature Apple’s M3 system-on-a-chip, which is the company’s next-generation SoC. Based on Gurman’s research, the new chipset is anticipated to take advantage of TSMC’s upcoming 3nm process, which will allow for significant performance and power efficiency improvements. Additionally, Apple has allegedly redesigned some of the iMac’s internal components. Gurman also reveals that the iMac’s stand will be attached using a “different” manufacturing method in the near future. The all-in-one will look similar to the 2021 model in that it will have a 24-inch screen and come in a variety of bright colors.

Gurman claims that in addition to a new iMac, Apple is preparing to issue the much-anticipated 15-inch MacBook Air, a revised 13-inch MacBook Air, and the first Mac Pro with Apple Silicon. He thinks we can anticipate those Macs to show up sometime between late spring and the summer. Whether or not the new MacBook Airs will include M3 processors is less certain. Since Apple already sells an M2 variant of the ultraportable, Gurman assumes “at least” the 13-inch model will have Apple’s latest chip.
