By the end of 2024, all mobile phones, tablets, and cameras sold in the European Union will be required to utilize the USB-C standard charging connector, as decided by EU legislators.

Products already in the market would be unaffected.

This program is part of the European Union’s (EU) drive to reduce e-waste by promoting the recycling of old electronic device power supplies. It would be convenient for consumers because they wouldn’t need to carry along extra cords or adapters if they already have a USB-type C charger. Because of this, consumers would be able to select whether or not they want to purchase a charging cable separately.

Apple, Inc. is not an exception; despite its opposition to the proposal, the business has not yet responded to the EU’s request.
